The PET preform mold manufacturing industry is facing multiple technological challenges in the current market environment, directly impacting the competitiveness and market position of companies.

First, with the continuous expansion of PET packaging applications, customers are demanding increasingly higher precision from preform molds. Modern beverage, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical packaging sets near-stringent standards for preform wall thickness uniformity, dimensional stability, and appearance quality. Mold manufacturing tolerances have increased from ±0.05mm to ±0.02mm or even higher. This increased precision directly tests the processing capabilities and quality control levels of mold manufacturers.

Second, mold lifespan has become a core indicator of customer concern. The lifespan of high-quality PET preform molds has increased from the traditional 500,000-800,000 cycles to 1,000,000-1,500,000 cycles, with some high-end applications even requiring over 2,000,000 cycles. Extending mold lifespan involves not only material selection but also technological breakthroughs in multiple areas such as heat treatment processes, surface treatment technologies, and routine maintenance.

Third, the demand for rapid mold changeover and efficient production is becoming increasingly prominent. The seasonal nature of the beverage industry demands that mold manufacturers provide rapid mold changeover solutions to minimize downtime. Simultaneously, customers are increasingly demanding higher production efficiency, raising the required number of mold cycles per hour from the traditional 1000-1500 to 2000-2500. This presents new challenges to mold thermal balance systems, cooling efficiency, and structural design.

Furthermore, the growing demand for specialized bottle designs, such as lightweight preforms, irregularly shaped bottles, and wide-mouth bottles, requires mold manufacturers to possess stronger innovative design capabilities and complex structure processing techniques. Increasingly stringent environmental regulations are also driving the industry towards more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly practices; how to reduce energy consumption while maintaining performance has become a new technical challenge.
